Expert Leadership from Around the World
The IWG is governed by the Global Executive - a volunteer board of 12 international leaders and experts in gender equity, sport and inclusion.
The board includes Co-Chairs, Regional Representatives from Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe and Oceania, NGO representatives, and co-opted experts.
Together, they represent different parts of the global sporting ecosystem, helping to guide IWG’s strategic direction and drive its worldwide advocacy.

Annamarie Phelps
CBE OLY

Location - London, UK
Chair of the IWG UK Secretariat and Co-Chair of the Global Executive. A former World Champion rower and Olympian, she is Vice Chair of the British Olympic Association, President of European Rowing and Vice President of World Rowing.
She has chaired major British sport bodies, served on the IOC Gender Equality Commission, and led governance reform across cycling, rowing, horse racing, and Paralympic sport.
Raewyn Lovett, ONZM

Location - Auckland, New Zealand
Co-Chair of the IWG Global Executive and Deputy Chair of Sport New Zealand. Former Chair of Netball New Zealand, the Trans-Tasman Netball League and Aktive, she also serves on boards including TAB NZ.
A commercial lawyer and ONZM recipient, she is recognised as one of New Zealand’s leading sports administrators.

Diane Huffman
 

Location: Ontario, Canada
Position: NGO Representative: WomenSport International (WSI)
Sport development consultant with 20+ years’ experience in governance and equity.
She advises the Norwegian Olympic and Paralympic Committee, champions women’s leadership, and works to build safer, more inclusive and accountable sport environments worldwide.
Rosa Diketmüller, PhD

Location: Austria, Europe
Position: NNGO Representative: IAPESGW
Assistant Professor at the University of Vienna and President of IAPESGW.
She researches pedagogy, gender and diversity in sport, and has led European projects tackling equity, inclusion, and gender-based violence.

Game Mothibi

Location: Gaborone, Botswana
Led Botswana’s IWG Secretariat bid (2014–2018) and served as General Secretary. She continues to shape policy across Africa and works internationally to expand leadership opportunities for women in sport.
Dr. Rosaura Méndez Gamboa

Location: Costa Rica
Professor and researcher in sports science. She promotes inclusive participation, advances women’s leadership across Latin America, and serves on international panels driving gender equity in sport governance.
Dr. Etsuko Ogasawara

Location: Tokyo, Japan
Founder of the Japanese Association for Women in Sport and Professor at Waseda University.
She has influenced policy nationally and advised Olympic bodies on gender inclusion.
Tarja Krum

Location: Finland
Sustainability Manager at Finlands Svenska Idrott. She specialises in sport policy, gender equity and sustainability, working across Europe to expand women’s leadership and promote inclusive practices.
Carolyn Ngiraidis

Location: Republic of Palau
Regional Representative for Oceania. Carolyn advocates for equity in sport and drives initiatives to expand women’s participation and leadership across the Pacific.

Lilamani de Soysa

Location: Lausanne, Switzerland
Active since the 2002 IWG Conference, Lilamani has supported international organisations to promote women’s leadership, influence policy, and embed gender equality across global sport.
Fiona Allan, ONZM

Location: Auckland, New Zealand
Former Chief Executive of Paralympics New Zealand. She has over 18 years’ governance experience across sport and government, and was awarded ONZM for services to Paralympic athletes.
Louisette-Renée Thobi OLY

Cameroon, Central Africa
Secretary General of CONFEJES and former Olympian, competing in the 100m hurdles at Barcelona 1992. She champions youth development and gender equity in Francophone Africa.

Game Mothibi
Game Mothibi led Botswana’s successful bid for the IWG Secretariat 2014-2018 and served as its General Secretary from 2014-2018. She is passionate about empowering women and girls in sport, advocating for increased leadership opportunities, and ensuring gender equity in sports administration.
She has held leadership roles in several sport organisations in Africa and has been instrumental in shaping policy development for women’s sport. She continues to work with international bodies to drive progress in gender equality in sport.

Dr. Rosaura Méndez Gamboa
Dr. Rosaura Méndez Gamboa is a professor and researcher in sports science, focusing on physical activity, gender equity, and inclusive participation in sport. She has worked extensively in sport development across Latin America and has been instrumental in promoting equal opportunities for women in sport.
She serves on numerous advisory panels advocating for women’s leadership and gender equity in sport governance and policy.

Dr. Etsuko Ogasawara Ph.D
Dr. Etsuko Ogasawara is the founder and Executive Director of the Japanese Association for Women in Sport and has played a significant role in advancing gender equity in sports policies in Japan.
She is a professor at Waseda University and has served as an advisor to multiple Olympic Committees on gender inclusion in sport.

Tarja Krum is the Sustainability Manager at Finlands Svenska Idrott.
She has been deeply involved in sport policy, sustainability, and gender equity projects in Europe.
Tarja works closely with international sport organisations to ensure women and girls have greater access to leadership roles in sport.
