IWG is delighted to announce the appointment of Tarja Krum to the Global Executive, the 12-strong international board which governs the IWG.
Tarja, who will take over the European representative role from Sallie Barker, is the Sustainability Manager at ‘Finlands Svenska Idrott’ (the Swedish Sports Federation in Finland), where she leads initiatives focused on equality, safe sports, good governance, the environment and anti-doping. Last month, Tarja was also elected as the Chair of the European Sport NGO’s Equality Within Sport (ENGSO EWS) Committee.
Speaking of her appointment to the Global Executive, Tarja said: “It’s an honour to join the IWG’s Global Executive and contribute to its mission of promoting equality and inclusion in sports. My passion lies in advancing gender equality, intersectionality, safe sports, and sustainability within all levels and areas in the sports community. I am excited to bring my experience and insights to the IWG and support its strategic priorities.”
Annamarie Phelps CBE OLY, Chair of IWG, said: “It is my pleasure to welcome Tarja to our Global Executive and I’ve no doubt that with her background, experiences and interests, she will make an invaluable contribution to our cause within Europe and beyond.
“I would also like to thank Sallie Barker for the incredible work she has done to grow the profile of IWG within Europe, and on behalf of the Global Executive I wish her all the best following her appointment as the Mayor of Guildford Borough Council.”
